Joan Henry-Fields
The company was founded by Joan Henry in 2008. Joan began her ambitious quest to develop WEE is due in part to her passion to help motivate other like-minded women. Her persistence and commitment to develop an avenue for women to come together has been seen over the last 11 years. One of the primary central focuses of the expo is for women to network with business leaders to learn about starting their own business. According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, $10 million firms are owned by women (50% or more), employing more than 13 million people, and generating $1.9 trillion in sales in 2008. Due to this statistical information, the topics that were presented during the expo were informative, as well as the dynamic speakers who shared their knowledge and expertise. Joan would like to establish quality relationships, and be an agent of change in the lives of the people with whom she comes in contact. Joan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from the Audrey Cohen College in Manhattan, New York, a Master’s degree in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, DC, and is currently pursuing her (DBA) Doctorate in Business Administration, with a focus on Management with Grand Canyon University. Her work experience has given her the opportunity to work collaboratively with health care professionals, criminal justice professionals, and in various entrepreneurial capacities. Joan is a woman of integrity, a woman with relentless determination to help promote women-owned businesses. As an entrepreneur, she knows the benefits of being a business owner.
